Dear Neighbors,
My name is HG Hanh-Giao NGUYEN, and I am running for San Jose City Council in District 7 because I believe our community deserves leadership that listens, understands, and takes action—for all of us.

District 7 is home to hardworking families, small business owners, seniors, and young people with big dreams. Yet too many of our neighbors are struggling with rising housing costs, public safety concerns, limited after-school programs, and the challenge of balancing work and family life. I’m running because these challenges are real—and they deserve real solutions.

For many years, I worked with the City of San Jose. That experience gave me a deep understanding of how our city operates—and where it can do better. I’ve seen what works, what doesn’t, and how thoughtful leadership can make a real difference at the neighborhood level.
​
As a political refugee, mother of two, working wife, small business owner, radio broadcaster, and co-founder of the Vietnamese-American Chamber of Commerce, I’ve spent my life connecting with people, amplifying community voices, and advocating for local businesses and working families. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to raise a family, keep a business open, and still feel heard by City Hall.

I’m running to make sure District 7 has a strong, experienced, and compassionate voice—someone who understands our diverse communities and is committed to bringing people together across cultures, generations, and backgrounds.
​
I believe in safer streets, affordable housing, thriving small businesses, strong youth and after-school programs, and a city that supports working parents. Most of all, I believe the government should work for the people—not the other way around.

I am running because District 7 deserves leadership rooted in service, accountability, and unity.
